Business Plan? This is How We Do It.

The well-charted territory of raising capital.

The well-charted territory of raising capital.

We know what it takes to generate a business plan that you feel confident pitching, and that convinces investors that your business is worth their time and money. Here’s a snapshot of what to expect when you work with Unicorn to deliver your business plan, pitch deck, executive summary, presentations, financial model and more.

What we do with capital raising documents makes Unicorn special - but how we do it sets us apart. When you work with us, you’re coming on an interactive adventure into the heart of business. We don’t just take your word for it and shove you into a template. We’re business consultants, financial analysts, marketers and designers. We bring all these skills  to bear on all your investor-facing documents. We care about your company and we want you to succeed - out of mutual self interest! We only work with clients we feel we can help raise capital because our business relies on adding your successful capital raise to our running total - $50M and counting this year alone. To set you up for success, we take you and your business through an experience designed to help us exceed our own expectations for your prospectus. When you work with us, this is how you can expect it to play out.

1. Initial Conversation - 10-20 Minutes

You get to speak to the Chief Unicorn - Evan Fisher. This is a meet and greet between you and Evan, and between your business and Unicorn Capital. You’ll take Evan for a walk through your company and your business plans for the future. Evan founded Unicorn Business Plans to put his extensive investment banking and corporate strategy experience to work for your company. As he gets to know your business he’ll begin mentally pairing your company with the unicorns on his team who are best placed to meet your unique challenges and unlock your unique opportunities.

2. Detailed Discussion - 1 hour.

Your second chat with the Chief Unicorn. He has reviewed your documents for background information, and he’ll have some things to clarify, additional questions and some points for you to ponder. By the end of it, we’ve got everything we need to get cracking on your investor documents.

3. Unicorn Works its Magic, and You Receive Your First Draft

The working draft won’t be pretty yet, but the narrative will be clear. We do it like this for a reason: we want you to feel how your story is coming across ‘bare bones’ - so you don’t get seduced by the whizz-bangery that our design team is getting ready to apply to it. We know that a great-looking document will get you through the door with an investor - but it’s the clarity of your narrative that will ultimately convince them to cut the check. You can see from the stuff we’ve done in the past that your investor documents are going to look spectacular. At the working draft stage we’ve got two big questions for you to answer:

  1. Does this sound like a business you want to pitch?

  2. Does this sound like a business you want to be involved with when the investors say yes?

We’ll also include a bunch of questions based on what our process has thrown up, and we usually have a couple of suggestions for you to ponder too.

4. You submit comments, answers, amendments and First Draft.

We make it super-simple for you to make edits & changes. You watch a video, then take 30 minutes to go through the draft to make your comments & changes.

5. Unicorn Works More Magic, and We Discuss Changes

Once we’ve had a chance to pick up on your edits, you’ll have a third screenshare chat with Evan, so you’ll also have the chance to convey your thoughts verbally & iron out any changes. We’ll make sure we’re all on the same page. Now things are going to get really exciting. If we’re doing a financial model, we’ll run through it live & punch in numbers.

6. Unicorn Works its Magic Again.

The team goes to work and pulls everything together. The financial analysts get the numbers in there. The narrative strategists make it read right and the visual strategists make it look fantastic.

7. You receive your documents.

You’ll confirm and sign off. Now you’re ready to raise.

A penny for your thoughts:

We’ve been asked to consider introducing a special new service for Unicorn alumni:

8+ Ongoing support

It’s likely that your business plan, pitch deck, executive summary and other investment documents are going to pass through a few different hands en route to raising capital. You’ll probably get some comments, suggestions and hints along the way - and you may need to discuss the merits of an offer. For a low monthly subscription, Unicorn will be on call to talk you through your options and to make sure your documents are maintained perfectly, tailored to each new investor and tweaked to reflect new insights, developments and opportunities.
